Bali - June 2004
10 Nov 2004

This wasn't my first trip to Bali, but it was certainly different to the other holidays I have had there. I spent the first five nights at the four star Aston Bali Resort & Spa in Tanjung Benoa. Having never stayed at Benoa or Nusa Dua before, I quite enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere of this area of the island. The beach was very nice, and my days were spent gazing out over the water.

My other four nights, were spent in Seminyak at The Villas. Seminyak is just north of Legian, it has a lot of great restaurants and some beautiful hotels. We chose to stay in villa accommodation for this trip, which I would highly recommend. The Villas is a four stay property close to the main shopping area of Seminyak which has one, two and three bedroom villas. Each villa has a private pool and garden area, which gives you complete privacy. If you feel like staying in, you could always cook a meal yourself …. or have one of the staff come and do it for you. It was great to have the extra space to relax in, and it almost felt like a home, but without all the chores.

If you prefer hotel accommodation, The Legian is a beautiful five star hotel which overlooks Seminyak Beach. The personalised service that each guest receives at this hotel, will ensure it is a place that you won't soon forget. If you wanted to try the ultimate in luxury, there is villa accommodation at The Club at The Legian. Located just across the road from the hotel, you have the use of all the hotels facilities, as well as the exclusiveness of your private villa which comes with a ten metre swimming pool and butler service.

For the more laid back, you can take a relaxing day cruise to Lembongan Island or an evening visit to Jimbaran Bay to eat at one of the many seafood restaurants on the beach. A visit to Uluwatu just before sunset is recommended. Uluwatu is a Balinese temple perched high on the clifftops overlooking the ocean. It is quite spectacular … just look out for the monkeys!

Bali really is a holiday that can fit any budget. From the inexpensive hotels located right amongst the action in Kuta, up to the exclusive resorts scattered around the island. There is sure to be something to suit you!
